Institut für Parasitologie

Biomedical parasitology research combines aspects of basic and applied research from the laboratory bench for a preclinical understanding of infection processes and mechanisms to the translation of the results into various applications. Research focus of this group is to study the parasite-host interactions to uncover innovative intervention approaches against parasitic infections, notably in parasitic helminths (worms). This includes the evaluation of alternative pipelines to spot novel vaccine candidates, and the development of diagnostics, all together which can be applied for a next generation of desperately needed control programs. For this research, the group generates polyclonal- and monoclonal antibodies from different sources. The group is involved in various research projects in national- and international collaborations, including industrial partners.
