Biography: I began my career as a laboratory technician in Professor Ueli Grossniklaus's Plant Developmental Genetics group at the University of Zurich (UZH). Our research focused on the genetic and epigenetic control of plant reproduction, including both sexual reproduction and apomixis. As part of a dynamic lab technician team, I contributed to various projects, including my own investigation into MEDEA, a polycomb group gene involved in maternal control of embryogenesis in A. thaliana, and the helitrons Rep1 and Rep2 transposable elements.
After this, I transitioned to medical research in nephrology under the mentorship of Professor Soeren Lienkamp at UZH's Institute of Anatomy. Professor Lienkamp’s research focuses on embryonic renal organogenesis and the pathophysiology of genetic renal disorders. Joining his team as a lab manager, I helped establish the laboratory and supported research on renal development and disease mechanisms.
During my work in Lienkamp's group, I completed a bachelor's degree in biotechnology, where my primary focus was on cell and tissue engineering. For my thesis I developed a double-layered periosteal tissue embedded in various biomaterials.
In 2024, I joined Professor Matthias Marti's group at UZH as a lab manager, where I currently manage the day-to-day operations of the lab and support ongoing parasitology research efforts.
Role: In my current role as lab manager in Professor Marti’s group, I oversee the daily operations of the laboratory, ensuring its smooth functioning and compliance with safety protocols. My responsibilities include managing lab inventories, coordinating equipment maintenance, and providing technical support to researchers. I work closely with the research team to facilitate experiments and contribute to the group’s research goals.
Further I am involved in management at the institute level, where I support broader operational and administrative functions.
