Project:
This project investigates whether fresh berries sold in Switzerland carry parasites, antibiotic-resistant bacteria, and human pathogenic viruses that could pose a risk to consumers. Using molecular methods, I analyse samples from the market and explore how effective simple washing methods are at reducing potential contamination. The goal is to better understand real-world food safety risks and provide practical recommendations for safer consumption.
This work is a collaborative effort between the Institute of Food Safety, the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (BLV), and METAS (Bern)
